"When I'm older."

Keegan asked Daddy where he was going this morning as he was headed out the door.  "I'm going to work."  Keegan responded, "Can I come too?"  Daddy replied, "Okay, sometime I will take you to work."  Keegan thought for just a minute then added, "When I'm older."  I continue to be amazed.

"Shake it up!"

So, we are out of milk.  Which is NOT okay in the Barry home, since Keegan drinks about a gallon every 4 days.  I always have a back-up, because moms know what sort of chaos will ensue if there is no back-up.  So I scooped the powered milk into Keegan's cup this morning and made the mistake of shaking it myself. Keegan immediately started in with, "I shake it!!"  Then, of course, when I let him take over the shaking task, he refused.  One wrong move on my part means at least a half hour of fits.  And this, as you might imagine at age 2 1/2, is not an unusual occurrence.  I still love you big bunches, my little milk monster!

My amazing big boy

Keegan is all about doing big boy stuff, which includes having his own knife at meal times.  While eating lunch the other day, he picked up his knife to cut his ravioli saying, "I cut smaller, Mama".  How the heck do they learn things like "smaller" at such a young age?  He amazes me every day!

Playdough

Playdough is one of Keegan's favorite activities these days.  It's the only thing, besides watching Barney and playing with his tools, that will keep him independently entertained  for longer than 15 minutes.  He makes snakes, and balls, and snowmen--not sure why snowmen, since we haven't had any snow all winter.  If Mommy makes something, he admires it for a whole of 20 seconds then crushes it.  I recently found some playdough toys, so he can now cut with scissors, push and squeeze the dough, and make shapes.

Good Night-Night

I used to always ask Keegan if he had a good rest when he woke in the morning or after his nap.  He would shake his head "yes" and say, "uh, huh".  Now, before I can say anything, he says, "I had good night-night".   He will sometimes even ask one of his little stuffed buddies, "good night, Elmo?", as he takes him into his arms for a big hug.  Elmo is one of his favorites; sometimes Keegan will even let Elmo brush his teeth!

I am my father's son

I haven't written in months.  I realize that is just how I do things, so my posts will be far a few between.  Unfortunately things like this happen every day and just don't get documented; but I couldn't not write about this one: After sitting on the potty for few minutes, Keegan stood up, saying "book", walked to the magazine rack in front of the toilet, and sat down on his potty again, flipping through the magazine pages like he could actually read them.  Clearly he has watched his daddy sitting on the toilet!
ps. I can't believe Keegan will be two tomorrow!
